Healthtech Buys Into Computers

National Healthtech, a private holding company in Fountain Valley, announced Friday that it has acquired a 20% interest in a Spokane, Wash., computer company, for an undisclosed amount.

The agreement with Wismer-Martin Inc., a developer of computer systems for the health-care industry, provides National Healthtech with an option to obtain a controlling interest of about 52% in the Spokane firm, according to Richard A. Montgomery, National Healthtech’s chief executive.

Montgomery said Wismer-Martin’s technology can make it easier and faster for hospitals and health-maintenance organizations to get information about patients from physicians or physician groups in private practice.

“The acquisition primarily rounds out the health-care needs of our customers to integrate health-related information,” he said.

National Healthtech is the parent company of two Fountain Valley companies--Integrated Health System Inc., a developer of software for hospitals, and Montgomery Ryland Inc., which manages data-processing facilities for hospitals and other heath-care organizations.
