Why Not Marine Base as Jail Site?
Why don’t we solve the problem of our greatly needed new Orange County jail in a really simple way?
We should make an arrangement with the homelands of all the illegal aliens we have in our jails whereby those prisoners go to their own countries’ jails to serve out their time. We could pay the transportation to ship them home and pay the various countries, say, twice what it costs them per day to service a prisoner. The extra income would be good for their economies, we would free up a lot of prisoner space in our own jails, and it would probably cost us much less per prisoner than it is now costing us.
Oh, yes, the fact that they would be serving their sentences in their own countries’ jails would probably be a strong deterrent to our increasing crime problem.
