Adler Gets Some Bipartisan Praise
Howard Adler’s Commentary (“It’s Time to Address the Issues That Voters Really Care About,” Sept. 29) was the most lucid, right-on-the-money rundown of current issues I have seen in a long time. Every political party should immediately scrap its irrelevant, esoteric platforms and build a new one from his list of real issues.
As a lifelong Republican, I am embarrassed by my own party’s internecine warfare over issues about which only a small minority really care passionately. This minority has seized control of the party machinery and is now ripping us apart over its litmus-test issues while we ignore the really pressing issues presented by Adler.
I would suggest we attempt to recruit Mr. Adler. But why would he want to jump from the frying pan into the fire?
