SOUTHLAND ROUNDUP : Occidental Gets Past Claremont

David Glassmire kicked 22-yard field goal with no time left to give Occidental a 17-14 victory over Claremont Saturday in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Claremont.
Occidental, 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the SCIAC, had tied the score with 55 seconds left when Gary Little ran two yards for a touchdown. The Tigers got the ball back when Claremont (0-4, 0-3) fumbled a lateral on the ensuing kickoff.
La Verne 27, Azusa Pacific 12--Willie Reyna completed 17 of 31 passes for 359 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Leopards (3-1) over the Cougars (2-3) in a nonconference game at La Verne.
Redlands 48, Menlo 0--Shaun Trejo rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns, including a school-record 98-yard scoring run, as the Bulldogs (3-1) won a nonconference game over Menlo (2-3) at Redlands.
UC Santa Barbara 31, San Francisco State 27--John Franco’s two-yard touchdown pass to Brian Fleming with 2:35 left gave the Gauchos (2-2) the nonconference victory at San Francisco.
