Unknown Pollutant Pouring Into Bay
County health officials said Friday that a pollutant is spilling into San Diego Bay through a storm drain near the Naval Training Center’s aquatic sports center. Officials did not identify the pollutant, except to say it is bacteria that are emptying into the bay.
Warning signs have been placed at the site, and the area has been put off limits for recreational use. County officials said the area is accessible only to military personnel.
San Diego water utility crews are attempting to find the source of the pollution.
