An ‘Uncheerful Giver’ Wanteth Money Back

BURKESVILLE, Ky. — The Bible says: “God loveth a cheerful giver.” But A. B. Cash says his church has given him little to be cheerful about, so he’s suing to get back the money he tossed in the collection plate.
“I did it out of a sense of hurt,” said Cash, 49. “It’s not about money. It’s about snobbery, lies and broken promises.”
Cash’s lawsuit against the Living Word Assembly of God is scheduled for trial next week in Cumberland County district court. He claims the church reneged on promises of fellowship and assistance.
Cash seeks $600 in offerings made over two years, the return of another $125 gift and $275 in punitive damages.
