Lincoln 44, Verdugo Hills 14--Verdugo Hills tailback Donald Coulter rushed for 132 yards in 18 carries, but it wasn’t enough as the visiting Dons (0-5, 0-2) remained winless.
Coulter’s 73-yard touchdown run up the middle in the third quarter cut Lincoln’s lead to 24-14.
Lincoln (4-1, 2-0) regained control, limiting the Dons to 54 yards on their final three possessions and put the game out of reach on Fernie Delgadillo’s 51-yard scoring run. Receiver Marcello Ortega had five receptions for 143 yards and scored three touchdowns on passes from quarterback Gerardo Roman.
Verdugo Hills quarterback Chris Ferris completed nine passes for 87 yards with one interception. The Dons had 181 total yards to Lincoln’s 432 yards.
