COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Freshman Miller Made Presence Felt
- Share via
Linebacker Jamir Miller, the only true freshman on UCLA’s defensive unit this season, made an impact Saturday night in the Bruins’ 54-14 rout of Arizona at the Rose Bowl.
While utilized in pass-rush situations, Miller had three sacks, throwing the quarterback for a total of 32 yards lost.
“I’m impressed with his work ethic,” Coach Terry Donahue said. “He came here and was able to adjust to the rigors of practice much easier than I thought he might. I think he has made a smooth, quick transition from high school (in El Cerrito).
“Initially, we didn’t want to overload him, just have him become a pass-rush specialist. But I think it’s just a matter of time until he plays on regular downs.”
