County Urged to Keep Funding for Libraries
- Share via
Concerned about reductions in the county budget, the Town Council voted last week to urge the Board of Supervisors to maintain current supplemental funding levels for the Altadena Library District.
Although the library is an independent district, about 36% of its annual net operating budget of $469,000 comes from a special fund allocated by the supervisors, district Librarian William Tema said.
The supervisors will vote on this year’s fund Thursday. Tema said any cut “would hurt us very, very much, especially this year with the opening of the new Literacy Center and Branch Library.”
