SUITABLE FOR FRAMING: Remember back before CDs when album cover art really was art ? For a couple of hundred clams you can now hang a reminder of that era on your wall. Record Art, a New York-based company, is selling limited-edition lithograph reproductions of 18 classic album covers, including the Who’s “Tommy,” Roger Dean’s fantasy painting for Yes’ “Relayer” and Bob Dylan’s own painting for “Self Portrait.”
Rock Art is making 9,800 of each one, selling for $195 unframed or $265 framed, along with a handsome book of all 18 covers and their histories. You can contact the company at (800) 888-0047. Not satisfied with a lithograph? The San Francisco Art Exchange is offering the original “Relayer” work for a cool $400,000.
