COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Williams Is Tough Enough
- Share via
UCLA tailback Kevin Williams gained a carer-high 210 yards in 30 carries Saturday night against Oregon at the Rose Bowl.
Coach Terry Donahue said it was a breakthrough for Williams, a junior, who has been bothered by injuries in the past.
“Kevin’s problem hasn’t been an inopportune number of carries. It has been the fact that he hasn’t been able to tolerate a lot of carries,” Donahue said. “A year ago, if he had carried the ball 30 times, he would have been in a training room, banged up and hurt.
“And that’s a real stride for him becoming a tougher, harder football player than he was. We have wanted to give the ball 30 times to Kevin since his freshman year.”
