Hoffman Redeemed

Regarding “Down to the Basic Hoffman,” by Lawrence Christon (Nov. 24):
Christon’s deft and straight-shooting profile of Dustin Hoffman and the non-evasive, honest contribution Hoffman makes to it speak well (for once) for the celebrity interview and its raison d’etre.
Rather than a piece in which the journalist takes potshots at a star’s past or pores inanely through his personal life, or a roughshod assemblage of third-party opinions to accompany the subject’s vacuous remarks, here everything comes together with intelligence and purpose.
Dustin Hoffman’s lifework is honored. Redemption well-deserved, Dustin.
