Loyola Women Improve to 4-1

The Loyola Marymount women’s basketball team defeated Southern Utah, 70-65, in its home opener Saturday night.
Joelle Longobardi had career-high 34 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Lions (4-1) and Jamie Jesko had 13 points and six assists.
Loyola made 19 of 27 free throws and forced Southern Utah (1-4) into 31 turnovers.
Candice Lords had 16 points and eight assists for the Thunderbirds and Amy Hughes added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lions play host to Cal Poly Pomona at 5:20 p.m. on Friday.
