Pepperdine University has received $1 million for its program to attract highly qualified students from under-represented racial and ethnic groups.
The gift, from Santa Monica-based National Medical Enterprises Inc., will be used as part of the Malibu school’s new Cultural Enrichment Initiative, which is designed to attract and retain students from under-represented groups and develop non-Western curricula at the university.
An initial group of 25 students will receive financial aid and other support as a result of the program.
National Medical Enterprises is one of the nations’s largest health-care services companies, operating hospitals and other health-care facilities throughout the world.
