And Now, the Cardboard Cop

LONDON — British police unveiled a new weapon Tuesday in the battle against traffic scofflaws--the cardboard patrol car.
Police in Northumbria, a town in northern England, are experimenting with dummy patrol cars placed on road bridges to foil motorists who break traffic laws.
The ploy is aimed at drivers who slow down when they see a patrol car but accelerate over the speed limit when the police are again out of sight.
A real police patrol will be waiting further up the road to stop the offenders.
