SOCCER ROUNDUP : Unranked Foothill Boys Shut Out Fourth-Rated Corona del Mar

Unranked Foothill upset fourth-ranked Corona del Mar, 2-0, in a nonleague boys’ soccer match Wednesday at Foothill.
It was the first loss of the season for Corona del Mar (6-1-1), which had won the Irvine tournament last weekend. Foothill is 4-2-1.
Jeff Winkle scored about 10 minutes into the first half for Foothill. The Knights increased their lead to 2-0 about 20 minutes into the second half when Mike Hannegan scored. Foothill’s Jason Vlcek had nine saves.
In other nonleague boys’ soccer:
Woodbridge 2, Trabuco Hills 1--John Strain scored two goals midway through the second half to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.
Sonora 0, Villa Park 0--Goalkeeper Jeff Vogeding stopped a penalty kick in the first half and eighth-ranked Villa Park (7-0-1) escaped with a tie.
Canyon 3, Valencia 1--Sasha Saneff scored two goals, each assisted by Steve Maynard, and Trent Rusk headed in another goal off a corner kick for host Canyon (4-3-1). Bryan Monroe scored with 10 seconds left for Valencia.
Mater Dei 4, Century 2--John Gerdis and Chris Campbell each scored two goals for host Mater Dei (3-2-2).
In Garden Grove League boys’ soccer:
Kennedy 2, Rancho Alamitos 0--Ryan Bean and Robert Weber and each scored for host Kennedy (5-2, 1-0).
Los Amigos 4, Bolsa Grande 0--Jose Martinez scored two goals and Ruben Delgado and Gabrile Aceves added one each for host Los Amigos (2-3, 1-0).
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Orange 1, Fullerton 0--Mary Pezzetti scored with one minute remaining for Orange (3-2-1). The Panthers recorded their third consecutive shutout.
Fountain Valley 2, Tustin 1--Christa Wemmer and Marne Franklin each scored goals for Fountain Valley (4-1-2).
