Interest Rate on 5-Year Notes Slide: Interest rates on five-year Treasury notes fell to their lowest level in 15 years. The Treasury sold $9.04 billion in notes at an average yield of 6.24%. Down from 6.54% at the Nov. 26 auction, it was the lowest yield since five-year notes averaged 6.19% in December, 1976. The notes will carry a coupon rate of 6 1/8%, with each $10,000 in face value selling for $9,951.30.
