Ratings Overrated

NBC Entertainment President Warren Littlefield is quoted as saying, “I think we shouldn’t underestimate the public” (Calendar, Dec. 3).
Hallelujah! It’s been a long time coming. Maybe now the other three networks will see the light. The most flagrant way to underestimate the public’s taste in television is to let the Nielsen ratings decide what a potential pool of more than 90 million viewers finds entertaining.
