HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Farris’ Ace Helps Hart to Golf Win

Freshman Steve Farris recorded a hole in one on the 165-yard ninth hole at the Vista Valencia Golf Course on Wednesday to lead Hart High to a 333-348 win over Westlake in a nonleague match between area golf powers.
Jason Gore, a senior, fired a one-under-par 60 to earn medalist honors for Hart (4-0). It was the first bogey-free round of Gore’s career. He had 17 pars and one birdie.
The hole in one was the second of Farris’ career. He finished with a 71.
Westlake is 1-2 with both losses coming against Hart.
BASEBALL
Monroe 11, Narbonne 3--Juan Navarro had two hits and drove in five runs and Christian Ascencio had two hits and three runs batted in for Monroe (1-0-1) in a San Fernando tournament game.
Oxnard 6, Westchester 5--Abel Romero stroked a three-run triple in the fifth to lift the Yellowjackets (1-1) in the Westside tournament.
Hart 12, Beverly Hills 5--Luis Sanchez pitched five innings in his first start, leading host Hart (3-0) in a Westside tournament game.
St. Bernard 7, Saugus 2--Gabe Valdevia went three for four with two RBIs to lead host St. Bernard (2-0) in a Westside tournament game.
Montclair Prep 18, Palisades 6--Outfielder Steve Cain was three for four and drove in three runs to lead the Mounties (3-0) in a Westside tournament game at Palisades.
Justin Paperny was two for three and drove in three runs for Montclair Prep.
Chaminade 17, Marshall 0--Mike Andry was three for four with a pair of doubles to lead Chaminade in a Westside tournament game at Marshall that was called after six innings because of darkness.
Channel Islands 7, Sylmar 1--Jose Gastelum had two doubles and four RBIs to pace host Channel Islands (3-0) in the Westside tournament.
Harvard-Westlake 12, Alemany 7--Scott Garson pitched a complete game in his first varsity start to lead Harvard-Westlake (1-2) in a Westside tournament game at Alemany.
Rian O’Meara, Adam Richards and Jon Schaeffer each had three RBIs and Brian Gibbon went three for four for Harvard-Westlake.
Camarillo 11, Crossroads 5--Andy Hall was three for five, drove in three runs and stole two bases for Camarillo (2-1) in a Westside tournament game at Crossroads.
Newbury Park 2, Santiago 0--Tim Farris (1-0) threw a three-hitter, walked one and struck out seven in a third-round game of the Loara tournament in Anaheim.
Moorpark 14, St. Genevieve 2--Richard Hernandez and Ken Ditto each went three for four with two RBIs and two runs scored as the Musketeers (3-0) beat host St. Genevieve in a nonleague game.
Crescenta Valley 7, Antelope Valley 4--Josh Canale went three for three with two homers and five RBIs to lead the Falcons (1-1) to a win in the Glendora tournament.
