Pure Strait: Grammy-winning country star George Strait is starring in his first movie, Warner Bros.’ “Pure Country.” The film, which starts shooting in Texas next month, is about a high-profile country singer who returns to a simpler life and falls in love along the way. Strait will sing 11 new songs in the movie. The romantic drama will be directed by Chris Cain (“Young Guns”) and produced by Jerry Weintraub. Strait, 40, is a former winner of the Country Music Assn.’s entertainer of the year award.
