CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE : Fulbright Scholarship Awarded
- Share via
For the first time, a Fulbright scholarship has been awarded to a faculty member in Cal State Northridge’s health science department.
Thomas Hatfield, an associate professor, will use the grant to set up a risk analysis curriculum and to teach courses in risk analysis and environmental management at the University of Kuopio in Finland this fall, university officials said.
Hatfield said he chose Finland because of its nearness to the Commonwealth of Independent States, a part of the world that has a number of environmental problems and a lack of risk communication. Hatfield also will conduct research in risk communication, he said. After he arrived in 1988, Hatfield helped establish the first risk analysis course in the environmental and occupational health curriculum at CSUN.
Fulbright scholarships are awarded competitively to professors and students to study, teach and conduct research abroad.
