Coalition Protests Workers’ Compensation Fraud: The Independent Coalition Against Workers’ Compensation Fraud, a statewide business group, said about 200 of its members shut down their businesses for one hour Wednesday to call attention to problems in California’s workers’ compensation system. The group largely blames fraudulent insurance claims for rising workers’ compensation costs that are hurting business in the state, and it has supported bills by Assemblyman Richard L. Mountjoy (R-Monrovia) to combat fraud.
