Democratic Primary

The cynicism demonstrated by Mel Levine in his campaign for the Senate offers a sad commentary on the state of politics in this nation. Here is a man who pretends to be interested in improving social conditions boasting that his $4 million will buy him the election and waiting to support something as moderate as police reform until the polls showed it was a popular measure. In fact, since the upheaval in Los Angeles he has played the role of demagogue so well that he sounds like a Pat Buchanan supporter.
Leo McCarthy can never hope to have the kind of money it takes to run all those TV ads, but he is a candidate with a proven track record in support of measures to make this a more socially just society.
