Five-time world champion John Smith recovered from one of the biggest upsets in American wrestling history, winning two tight matches against John Fisher after a first-match loss Saturday to again make the U.S. Olympic freestyle team.
Smith, who has wrestled little in the last six months while coaching Oklahoma State, lost to Fisher, 4-2, in the afternoon at Pittsburgh, but recovered in the evening to win 3-1 and 6-5 in the 136.5-pound finals.
