Communists on Way to Landslide in Mongolia

ULAN BATOR, Mongolia — Initial election returns indicate a landslide victory for the Communist party, dealing a severe blow to efforts to accelerate market-style economic reforms, opposition leaders said Monday.
Officials of the Social Democratic Party and a coalition of three other non-Communist parties said the Communists, known as the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party, appeared likely to win all but four of the 76 seats in the new legislature, the Great People’s Hural.
