Billboards? Bah!

The issue of billboards in the city of Anaheim (“Billboard Issue on Anaheim’s Agenda Again,” July 7) continues to haunt our community for the fifth time because old-timer Councilman Irv Pickler “finds them interesting to look at while driving.”
No wonder so many residents have fled the blight of North County for the more placid, planned look of South County, which is free of billboards.
Anaheim has spent millions placing utility lines underground and removing hundreds of utility poles only to propose lifting the ban on July 21 to generate a few thousand dollars which may benefit 200 eliminated city jobs? Hardly.
Irv, if you enjoy looking at billboards to make your drive more interesting, then why not move to Las Vegas?
Councilmen Pickler, Bill Ehrle, Bob Simpson, let not your legacy to the city of Anaheim be billboard blight!
