Don’t Blame Bart

During the opening credits of the June 25 episode of “The Simpsons” (Fox), Bart was seen writing on the blackboard over and over again, “Potato, not Potatoe.” Although I agree that the best way for someone to learn how to spell a word correctly is to keep writing that word, Bart’s writing it on the blackboard after school implies that he has been punished for having misspelled it.
A child should never be punished for being slow to learn something, especially since it may have been the Vice President of the United States who misguided him on the correct spelling to begin with.
