COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : USC : Gibbs Is Warned About Receivers

USC’s receiving corps caught the attention of San Diego State Coach Al Luginbill during the teams’ 31-31 tie two weeks ago.
Oklahoma Coach Gary Gibbs, whose 13th-ranked team will play USC on Saturday at Norman, Okla., said Monday that Luginbill suggested to him that the Trojans’ group of wideouts was among the nation’s best.
“(San Diego State) played Miami the last couple of years,” Gibbs said, “and (Luginbill) feels like, in terms of their ability to catch the ball, ability to run routes and (in terms of) speed and quickness, (USC’s receivers) were similar in terms of talent level (to Miami’s).”
