LONG BEACH — Westminster quarterback Johnny Mahurien threw two touchdown passes and ran for another Friday night as the Lions improved to 2-0 with a 28-15 victory over Long Beach Millikan.
Three passes by Millikan quarterback Junior Saupusa were intercepted, and Westminster also recovered three of five fumbles.

Millikan (0-2) answered on its next possession, going 68 yards in only three plays. Sheva Branch ran in from the 35.
Westminster (2-0) scored once in each of the next three quarters. In the second, wide receiver Jason Rund caught a 35-yard pass from Mahurien in the end zone after a fumble recovery. In the third, Guy Frazier ran in from the eight.
Finally, David Juan intercepted a Saupusa pass and, after three penalties, Mahurien found Juan all alone in the left corner of the end zone from 10 yards out.
