California’s Brad Monahan, carried off the field after suffering a neck injury during the fourth quarter of the Bears’ 27-24 loss to USC on Saturday at the Coliseum, was released Sunday from USC University Hospital.
Monahan’s condition was diagnosed as a neck sprain. The sophomore defensive tackle from Santa Rosa was flown back to Berkeley on Sunday night.
Kevin Reneau, Cal’s sports information director, said that no residual problems are anticipated.
Monahan was injured while tackling USC’s Curtis Conway.
