Trimedyne Inc.: The Irvine manufacturer of medical lasers and laser delivery systems lost $2 million, or 24 cents a share, for its latest fiscal year. That compared to a loss of $6.3 million, or 93 cents a share, for the previous 12 months. Revenue for the year that ended Sept. 30 increased 34% to $11.4 million from $8.5 million. For its fourth quarter, the company reported a profit of $171,000, or 2 cents a share, contrasted with a loss of $1.9 million, or 26 cents a share, for the same quarter a year earlier. Revenue more than doubled to $3.7 million from $1.8 million. The results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year include a onetime gain of $244,000 from the sale of a minority interest in a subsidiary. The results also include a gain of $228,000 for the current quarter and $595,000 for the current fiscal year as a result of a reduction in the reserve for excess inventory.
