Corona del Mar Wins First-Round Match

NEWPORT BEACH — Corona del Mar, the No. 1-ranked girls’ volleyball team in the state, opened the Southern Section Division I playoffs with a 15-1, 15-3, 15-3 victory over Estancia Thursday at Corona del Mar High School.
Jennifer Stroffe and Allison Englebrecht each had 10 kills for the top-seeded Sea Kings (17-0), who will play Manhattan Beach Mira Costa in the quarterfinals Tuesday at a site to be determined by a coin flip.
Mira Costa defeated Los Angeles Marlborough, 15-10, 15-8, 15-10, Thursday.
