Garfield 3, Fremont 0--In a game dominated by defense, a 23-yard field goal by Jimmy Carapia was all Garfield needed to beat Fremont in a Southeastern Conference game.
Garfield running back Armando Figueroa rushed for 124 yards in 30 carries, and quarterback David Villalobos completed two passes in four attempts for 35 yards. Villalobos also caught a 14-yard pass to set up Carapia’s field goal.
Fremont running back Romell Knutt rushed for 73 yards in 11 carries and quarterback William Yates completed four passes in 13 attempts for 44 yards with one interception.
