El Monte : 8 Civilians to Do Police Jobs

Eight civilian officers will soon be handling routine jobs in the Police Department thanks to the approval by the City Council last week of a community service officer program to be funded by assets seized in drug-related crimes.
The civilian officers will perform non-hazardous duties such as writing crime reports, investigating minor complaints and citing violators, investigating cases of missing persons and lost and found property, and providing advice and referral to victims and families.
