Making Disneyland Better, Bigger

Like Van France (“Saying ‘Can Do’ to Make New Dream Come True in Anaheim,” Commentary, Nov. 29), I hope the dream of the Disneyland Resort expansion comes true.
I first visited Disneyland in August, 1955. I took my kids a total of three times that summer and fall.
Heaven only knows how many times I have been there since--50? 60? 70?--and every visit has been different.
Right now, I have a Magic Years (senior) annual passport and go at least once a week. You can’t take Disneyland out of me.
In addition to my having a love affair with Disneyland, going there makes bearable having a great enthusiasm and an active intellect that are caged by the combination of a hidden neurological handicap and a low income.
Then, there was the lady I talked with briefly who said she goes there to forget her troubles. Disneyland does many things for people.
However, when one takes the tram or the monorail from the park to the hotel or vice versa, the magic is spoiled by the ugly parking lot and ugly West Street. The environs need to be changed.
A personal reason for my wanting the dream to come true is that I dream about seeing Westcot, an international shop and restaurant and two themed hotels. Looking ahead adds interest to life.
Like Van France, I hope that “can do” prevails and that the dream comes true.
