OUTLOOK
Noble was hoping the Knights might surprise the Empire League this year, but it’s unlikely anyone will take Katella lightly. Carrillo is one of the league’s top returning players and averaged 14 points last season, earning all-league recognition for the second consecutive season. “She creates things and makes things happen,” Noble said. “I know everybody (in the league) knows about her.” The word should also get out about Carrillo’s teammates. Katella doesn’t have much size, but the Knights’ defensive emphasis and improving depth should make the team capable of beating any team on a given night. Davis provides inside scoring against much bigger opponents with her aggressive play on the boards. Noble also expects Armbruster to contribute extensively. “She’s very capable. She just needs to gain the confidence and hold onto it,” Noble said. Vargas will handle point guard duties and Toon and Germinaro provide strength on the wings. “We stress defense, which promotes good offense,” Noble said.
