A $6 ticket bought at the satellite wagering site in San Bernardino was worth $88,694.40, a Hollywood Park daily triple record payoff Thursday.
The previous record of $56,993.10 was set Nov. 25, 1989.
The big payoff on the lone winning ticket, purchased through a self-service terminal at the National Orange Show Sports Center, was triggered by Desert Warning’s $120 upset victory in Thursday’s fourth race, the first leg of the day’s middle triple.
Desert Warning, a 2-year-old gelding, was ridden by Frank Alvarado and was coming off a race last Saturday in which he finished fifth while running at 222-1.
Bazillions won the fifth race, paying $11.80, and Desert Rose took the sixth and paid $12.
The winning fan, who has not been identified, selected one horse in two of the races and two horses in the other race.
