Position: Forward
Class: Freshman
The image Carlson casts on the basketball court is a slight one, but the results are substantial.
Carlson, who is 6 feet 5 and maybe 150 pounds, hardly looks able to excel on the floor against much larger opponents.
But he does.
Carlson is the leading scorer for the Hornets, averaging 19 points. But it is of little surprise that he is most effective from the outside.
Carlson, from Katella High, leads Fullerton in three-pointers (47 of 122). He has also been impressive from the free-throw line, making 86% (54 of 63).
Last week, Carlson averaged 23 points and was selected the most valuable player of the Palomar tournament.
Other top performers:
Fred Amos, who averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds as Rancho Santiago finished second in its own tournament.
Saddleback’s John Molle, who averaged 24 points as Saddleback finished third in the Rancho Santiago Holiday tournament.
