Fitzwater Denies Reagan Voted for Clinton

WASHINGTON — The report in TV Guide that former President Ronald Reagan didn’t vote for George Bush is nonsense, the President’s press secretary said Wednesday.
“What an outrage!” Marlin Fitzwater exploded. “How can anybody suggest that?”
Fitzwater, who also served as press secretary for Reagan, was asked about the magazine’s quoting “a top Clinton inaugural official” as saying that Reagan cast his ballot for Clinton.
“Ronald Reagan has supported George Bush right down the line,” Fitzwater said. “I would bet my life on his vote. And I’ve been a spokesman for both men.”
Reagan is scheduled to visit Bush next Wednesday to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
