* Palm Springs-based Bird Medical Technologies Inc. announced that John F. Kessler has joined the company as vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer. Kessler, 43, was most recently the vice president of finance and chief financial officer of Emerald Systems, a data storage device manufacturing company based in San Diego. Kessler replaces Patrick E. Thomas, who has resigned.
