Moving On: Santa Monica’s 18th Street Arts Complex, which houses Highways Performance Space, High Performance magazine, the Electronic C.A.F.E. and several artists’ studios, is facing a change of the guard. Executive director Steven Durland and artistic programs director Linda Burnham have decided to cease their administrative duties on May 1, saying they are “more artistic-minded than administration-minded.” Durland hopes to continue working with High Performance, but has not decided whether to continue as editor. Burnham, who co-founded Highways 15 years ago with performance artist Tim Miller, will stay as co-director for at least a year, but is currently on sabbatical to set up an artist-in-residence program in Chicago.
