Frasier Lives On: “Cheers” will soon be gone after 11 years on NBC, but the character of Frasier Crane will live on. Kelsey Grammer will continue to portray the pompous psychiatrist in a new sitcom that could be on NBC as early as this fall. Grammer will be the only actor from “Cheers” in the new comedy, according to David Angell, who with partners Peter Casey and David Lee will be executive producers of the show. Angell said NBC has committed to 13 episodes of the sitcom, which likely will have a setting other than Boston, where “Cheers” was set.
