Six Merchants Come Unglued After a While

LAGUNA BEACH — Six downtown merchants discovered Sunday morning that the locks to the front and rear doors of their shops had been filled with glue, preventing them from opening for business until locksmiths could free the mechanisms.
Police took six malicious mischief reports but had no suspects.
One of the vandalized merchants, Mark Siegel, director of Austin Galleries, claimed the owners of the vandalized stores on Forest Avenue were the leaders of a merchants association that complained to the City Council that arts and crafts shows are staged too frequently on their street.
On Sunday, arts and crafts dealers set up their portable displays on nearby Ocean Avenue.
