GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Rancho Alamitos Stumbles Early, Then Pulls Away

Akilah Rodgers scored 18 points and Michelle Frank added 11 as Rancho Alamitos defeated Santiago, 57-45, Wednesday night to remain unbeaten in Garden Grove League girls’ basketball.
After scoring just 10 first-quarter points, Rancho Alamitos (21-4, 13-0), ranked sixth in the county, pulled away by with 24 points in the second quarter.
America Robledo scored 22 points to lead Santiago (16-6, 9-4).
In other Garden Grove League games:
Pacifica 51, Los Amigos 25--Kim Kiyomura scored 13 points to lead Pacifica. Heidi Garcia had 11 points for Los Amigos (2-16, 1-12).
Kennedy 66, La Quinta 51--Lynly Matsumoto had 20 points for Kennedy (17-6, 10-3). Ronnie Gondringer had 15 points for La Quinta (13-9, 6-8).
In the Sunrise League:
Compton Regina Caeli 40, Connelly 28--Kirsten Cappel had 14 points for host Connelly (5-11, 4-3). Regina Caeli clinched the league championship with the victory.
