Valley-Area Trio on Division I Team

Simi Valley guard Ryan Briggs, Thousand Oaks forward Jason Hartman and Hart forward Matt Steffe have been named to the Division I All-Southern Section team.
Briggs, a 5-foot-10 senior, averaged 10.9 points and 8.3 assists, leading the Pioneers to second place in the Marmonte League, the championship game of the I-A playoffs and a berth in the Southern California regionals.
Hartman, a 6-6 junior, averaged 14.1 points a game for Marmonte League champion Thousand Oaks, which was 26-2 and finished the season atop The Times’ area poll. Hartman also averaged 7.3 rebounds.
Steffe, a 6-7 senior, averaged 21.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, leading the Indians to an 18-8 record and the Foothill League championship.
Nick and Paul Foster of Thousand Oaks, DeWauen Nunnery of Channel Islands, Chad Reese of Hoover, David Sofro of Glendale, Wendell Nunnery of Hueneme and Pharoah Davis of Highland were named to the second team.
