A special fund has been started to help the families of two road surveyors who were killed Tuesday when they were hit by a mail truck as they stood at a work site in Lake Forest.
Jon C. Adkison, 31, of Temecula and Roy D. Campfield, 34, of Hemet were thrown about 50 feet and died instantly in the accident, which happened along Lake Forest Drive just north of Rancho Parkway.
Employees of Coast Surveying Inc. of Irvine, the men were plotting the route of the Foothill Transportation Corridor Project.
Co-workers said both men were the sole financial supporters of their families.
Adkison is survived by his wife, Pam; an 11-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son. Campfield leaves his wife, Theresa, and two sons, ages 2 and 5.
Donations to the Adkison-Campfield Fund can be sent to: So. Ca. Surveyors JAC, 709 Brea Canyon Road 2, Walnut, Calif. 91789.
