THOUSAND OAKS : Woman Is Rescued From Burning House

Firefighters rescued a Thousand Oaks woman from a burning house early Tuesday, shortly before the structure was destroyed, authorities said.
When firefighters arrived, the roof of the single-story house at 440 Shenandoah St. was engulfed in flames. After hearing a woman screaming inside, firefighters rescued Kathleen Ellis, 38, through a bedroom window.
Ellis, daughter of the homeowner, was treated for smoke inhalation at Los Robles Regional Medical Center and released.
The fire was reported at 1:36 a.m. and knocked down by 2:04 a.m., said Sam Meier, dispatching supervisor for the Ventura County Fire Department. The cause of the fire was faulty wiring, she said.
Damage to the house was estimated at $140,000, and the loss of property was estimated at $15,000.
