The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District will start the fall semester two weeks later than usual to accommodate major renovations scheduled during the summer at campuses districtwide.
School will begin Sept. 22, after the summer phase of the reconstruction program, which is funded by a $75-million bond issue approved by voters in 1990.
Summer school programs will still be offered throughout the district. At Santa Monica High School, the University of La Verne will offer a variety of courses, including French, business and athletics, from June 21 to July 30.
John Adams Middle School, Lincoln Middle School and Malibu High School will offer a summer program for middle-school-age students from June 21 to July 16.
The PTA Summer Enrichment Program at John Muir Elementary School for students in kindergarten through sixth grade will run in two sessions from July 12 to Aug. 20. Special education classes will be held in several locations. Information: (310) 450-8338.
