A 28-year-old day laborer from Oxnard was identified Sunday as the victim of a fatal, single-car rollover that occurred on Pacific Coast Highway south of Las Posas Road on Saturday afternoon, officials said.
Raul Leonard Cobos was ejected from the van he was driving after losing control of the vehicle, officials said.
Two passengers--Victor Lopez, 19, and Ramon Castaneda, 23, both of Oxnard--suffered minor injuries in the crash, the California Highway Patrol said. CHP investigators said the seat belts had been removed from the front seat, possibly contributing to the fatality.
Cobos is survived by two brothers and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the Oxnard area. His wife and other family members live in Mexico, said Dale Zentzis, a Ventura County senior deputy coroner.
