OUTLOOK
Twenty-one of Toner’s 22 starters are gone, including all-county safety A.J. Gass and quarterback Eric Hannah. Reminiskey and McEachen will anchor the offensive line, and Thompson should have a productive season at fullback. Although Toner believes the loss of 21 starters knocks the Friars into a spoiler role, some Sunset League coaches peg Servite to challenge for the title. The Friars will be tested early with nonleague road games against Mater Dei (Sept. 9), two-time Southern Section Division VI champion Valencia (Sept. 17), and perennial L.A. City Section power Carson (Sept. 24). Servite will play preseason league favorites Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach on Oct. 8 and 14.
